Dear Brady and Jack,
I am currently sitting here sipping coffee, wiping the sleep from my eyes, and the two of you are already off for another day of elementary school. You’re wrapping up your second week of the new school year. There is a chill in the air, especially in the evening. The seasons are changing. I forgot how eerily quiet it is with the two of you gone all day. The chaos of summer suddenly ceased and I am left in it’s dust.
The two of you grew so much this summer.
One drizzly day we found a sweet spot at the river. You boys couldn’t help but feel the urge to explore. I quickly appeased your request. That was the day it happened. You became “country boys”.
Those memories I promised we would make? That happened. That is something that can never be taken from us.
