This summer is so fresh and new. Endless possibilities, new memories to be made. The anticipation of this summer began a few months ago when we created our annual “Summer List” full of everything we want to do before the leaves turn again.
We have already done more than we imagined. We’ve camped, made s’mores, swam, went floating down the river, and next week we will venture on our first family vacation. Taking you boys to the beach for the first time is sure to be a crazy fun ride.
Having you home from school every day sometimes gets unmanageable with the constant “I’m bored”‘s and “there’s nothing to do” but the promise of sandy bottoms and sun-kissed cheeks leaves me with a smile at the end of a stressful day.
I’m trying to fill our summer with excitement because you three deserve it. Learning how to ride a bike, going to a water park, building sand castles together – it is all so amazing to watch you experience these new things.
There is a line in Brad Paisley’s new song that goes “As long I live, whatever I do, As great as it is, you know what’s a bummer, I ain’t ever gonna beat this summer with you”. I hear that in my head over and over when I look at these photos.
I know that it is just getting started but I can tell that this is going to be the greatest summer we have had. Our adventure has just begun.
Here is to staying up too late, smelling like sunscreen, wearing pajamas all day, exploring lightning bug lit horizons, eating too much junk, and reconnecting as a family.
