When my dear friend Sarah told me that her son surprised her with a visit from college over Christmas break I was so thrilled for her. She also told me that they hadn’t had a proper family photo in almost a decade and she was planning on setting up her tripod to snap a few. I told her that wasn’t happening and I’d be happy to be their photographer. We decided on a lifestyle session with ice skating. Two of the five decided not to skate, but I still think we captured the essence of the day. Sarah and Joseph are so similar, outspoken and comical. Rob and Matty are similar as well – men of few words. Anthony is your quintessential college guy and I laughed when he immediately recognized the Adventure Time magnet on the back of my van! If you see him around be sure to compliment him on his “lackadaisical swagger”.
If you are like me you are terrified of failing, disappointing, and hold yourself to an awfully high standard when it comes to your product. All of this is true x100 when photographing another photographer. Sarah is the photographer at My Point Of You Custom Photography based out of PWC, focusing on lifestyle photography and capturing the “in-between moments”. She has been there to snap a few very intimate moments of my youngest son and I, and for that I am so thankful.Sarah and I are both the mom of 3 sons, photographers, and she is an amazing knitter (which I’m hoping she will teach me!). We often forget to step out from behind the viewfinder and actually get in the family photos. A few tragedies in the past year have taken place in our industry and we have banded together to make sure that we are photographed as well. I am so thankful that this family allowed me in and made me feel like I was one of them.
Sarah, I hope you love your feature! You know I’ll be seeing you soon!
